Too many business owners try to tell customers what they want instead of listening to what they actually need, and that is one of the fastest ways to lose a sale.

A better approach is simple: listen first. Even if you cannot provide exactly what the customer is asking for, you can still say, β€œI hear you,” and offer a strong alternative. That keeps the conversation open, and most customers will respect your professionalism and choose your recommendation.

Remember, telling beats selling, but listening builds loyalty.
